Curling Instructors

The Sutherland Curling Club is looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable Curling Instructors to help introduce new participants to the sport and create positive first experiences on the ice.

As part of our Programs Team, Curling Instructors help deliver fun, safe, and inclusive curling instruction for participants of all ages and abilities. Whether working with youth, adults, school groups, or introductory clinics, instructors play an important role in helping new curlers build confidence, learn the fundamentals, and discover the community that makes curling special.

What you'll do

• Deliver engaging Learn to Curl sessions
• Teach curling fundamentals, rules, etiquette, and sportsmanship
• Encourage participants through positive feedback and support
• Adapt instruction to meet different ages and skill levels
• Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment
• Promote safe practices on and around the ice

What we're looking for

• Strong understanding of curling skills, rules, and fundamentals
• Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic approach to teaching
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Coaching, teaching, or instructional experience is an asset
• NCCP certification or willingness to obtain is an asset

A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required for instructors working with youth programs.

Position details

Volunteer opportunity with honorarium. Season: September 2026 – April 2027. Junior Curling Instructors: $25 per session (approx. 1 hour). Adult Curling Instructors: $50 per session (approx. 2 hours).
