Head Coach and Program Coaches

The newly established Peninsula Youth Curling Academy (PYCA), based at the Peace Arch Curling Club in White Rock, is seeking one Head Coach and additional Program or Assistant Coaches for its inaugural youth program beginning in October 2026.

PYCA serves curlers ages 10–18 through progressive training focused on curling skills, teamwork, leadership, resilience, and sportsmanship. Curling Canada coaching training or certification is preferred. Current or recently retired competitive junior curlers interested in Assistant Coach opportunities are also encouraged to apply. Paid permanent, shared, and rotating coaching arrangements may be considered. Transportation support may be available for coaches commuting a significant distance to White Rock.

Key Responsibilities (Head Coach)

• Plan and lead PYCA's youth curling program and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans
• Teach curling fundamentals: safety, delivery, balance, sweeping, rules, etiquette, and strategy
• Coordinate and mentor Program Coaches and Assistant Coaches
• Monitor athlete development and communicate with athletes, parents, and PYCA directors

Key Responsibilities (Program / Assistant Coaches)

• Support the Head Coach with on-ice instruction and program delivery
• Lead small-group activities and assist with teaching curling fundamentals
• Help maintain a safe, engaging, and enjoyable learning environment

Qualifications

• Head Coach: Curling Canada Competition Coach training/certification strongly preferred; Club Coach training considered with relevant experience
• Program/Assistant Coaches: Curling Canada Club Coach training or relevant curling experience preferred; recently retired competitive junior curlers encouraged to apply
• Safe Sport Training and a current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check required (or willingness to complete)

Compensation: Paid positions, based on qualifications, experience, responsibilities, and availability. A transportation allowance may be available for coaches commuting a significant distance to White Rock.
