Job Title: Relationship Manager

Job Type: Contract – Full Time

Term: 24 months (March 31, 2025 – March 31, 2027)

Reports to: Curling Alberta – Director, Community Curling Development

Location: Flexible. Hybrid position with a mix of virtual work, in-office presence (Edmonton preferred), and on-site travel to clubs as required.

As the long-term health and sustainability of member clubs is a priority for Curling Alberta, the association is piloting a new role that will report directly to Curling Alberta’s Director of Community Curling Development. The Relationship Manager will be Curling Alberta’s primary liaison with member clubs, playing a key role in connecting member clubs with association services and programs.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional emotional intelligence and relationship skills while being relentlessly caring and resourceful in the pursuit of understanding and supporting the needs of member clubs in a consistent manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop outstanding relationships with member clubs.
  • Facilitate a collaborative and positive working relationship between member clubs, Curling Alberta, and Curling Canada.
  • Meet with identified member clubs on a regular schedule.
  • Provide accountability for member clubs working towards stated goals and key performance indicators identified in a strategic and/or operational plan.
  • Directly communicate updates and information with respect to news, programs, competitions, education, best practices and other resources that benefit the health of member clubs.
  • Familiarize member clubs with use of online Knowledge Centre (BusinessOfCurling.ca), including additions and updates as they are made.
  • Maintain individual club record of conversations, interventions, experiments, successes, failures, and other notable occurrences that facilitate succession planning and the transfer of institutional knowledge.
  • Issue an annual report card with recommended areas of improvement.
  • Track advancements and assess the monetary value of the Relationship Manager’s impact.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Exceptional emotional intelligence and relationship skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Actively contributes to a positive and cohesive working culture.
  • Ability to travel periodically in-province.
  • Club Professional designation or Club Manager’s Certificate from the Association of Curling Professionals (ACP) considered an asset.

 


Nature of Work:

 

This position will require the successful candidate to work on occasion from home, as well as from Curling Alberta’s office in Edmonton and periodically travel to visit member clubs. It should be understood that much engagement with curling clubs can take place outside of standard business hours due to the volunteer nature of curling club operations.


What We Offer:

The starting salary for this position is $55,000.  Curling Alberta offers two weeks paid vacation. The incumbent will be provided with a laptop and any other equipment required.
