Richmond Hill Curling Club (RHCC) is seeking an experienced curling ice professional for a structured leadership transition role with a defined pathway to the Head Ice Technician position following the planned retirement of the incumbent (currently projected for the 2028–2029 season).
The Club
RHCC is a member-owned 6-sheet facility in the north end of the Greater Toronto Area with over 550 members. In addition to league play, the club supports local school programs and corporate rentals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of RHCC’s ice maintenance program.
- Supervise, schedule, train, and mentor ice technician staff, with increasing leadership responsibility.
- Lead seasonal ice installation, maintenance, and removal activities.
- Assist with operating and maintaining the ammonia-based ice plant, dehumidifiers and rink heaters, keeping records in compliance with TSSA standards.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
- Work with Club management and the Facilities & Ice Conditions Committee on ice quality, equipment planning, and facility requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in curling ice preparation, maintenance, and management.
- Curling Ontario Head Ice Technician qualification or equivalent (e.g. Level 2 Ice Tech program).
- Experience supervising and training staff.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
Compensation
Starting at a minimum of $65,000, negotiable depending on experience, with progression to Head Ice Technician compensation upon transition.
